Top 10 Things I Love About Singapore

Weather

The weather in Singapore pretty much stays at around 30 degrees all year round. The humidity can be very strong. But Singapore has a lot of walk ways that are shaded so you do not have to walk in the strong heat all the time. Everywhere is air conditioned inside so that helps massively.

Food

You can find any cuisine you want here in Singapore! So many different options to choose from. One of my favourites and cheaper option is 'Satay Street' this is at the back of the famous Hawker Market 'Lau Pa Sat'.
The road is closed off in the evening and bbq stalls are set up and plastic tables and chairs are put out on the road. It opens from 7pm. You can order pretty much everything from inside 'Lau Pa Sat' but you must try the Satay. You can order chicken, beef, pork and prawn. It comes with satay sauce, onion and cucumber. It's such a good atmosphere!

All this for $28!

Recommendation: Order the pineapple rice

Preparation: You will sweat as it's all outside and you are near to the bbq but it is so worth it.

Les Bouchon

Currently located in 'Club Street'.

You have the choice of alfresco dining but if you can't stand the heat, head on inside to the air con.

If you like steak and unlimited chips this is your place!

Recommendation: Order the Sirloin Steak

If you still have room after this, the Creme Brûlée is the one, beware it's big!

Red Dot Brewhouse

One of the famous local dishes in Singapore is 'Chilli Crab'. Me and spice don't always see eye to eye! But here you can ask for it to be 'not too spicy' and from speaking to other expats, this restaurant seems to be one of the best places to experience it. As you can see from the picture its huge and you get loads of sauce which is yummy.

Here we are rocking our bibs which they give you and tools to crack the crab, be prepared to work for your dinner. But trust me it is worth it :)

Recommendation: Order the Seafood Rice to go with it

Lucha Loco

This place is awesome! It is in Duxton Hill(such a cool area), Mexican food at it's best and amazing Cocktails! Cool decor with outside garden seating options too.

Recommendation: Jug of Frozen Daiquiri

They have another branch called 'Super Loco' which is also amazing and on the river in Robertson Quay.

Rooftop Bars

This is a shot I took at the top of 'Marina Bay Sands' hotel at their bar 'Ce La Vi' it is by far one of the bets views in Singapore.

Find out more here:

Since being in Singapore this has been a mission of mine to try out as many rooftop bars as I can. I seem to find new ones all the time.

Here are three of my favourites rooftop bars:

Hi-SO

This place is amazing. It's well hidden unless you know the area, it is in the Sofitel Hotel on Robinson Road. Each night they have offers on which for Singapore is great as alcohol can be pricey. Wednesday (Ladies Night) on arrival you will receive a free glass of Champagne (Ruinart) and then $10 per glass all night! What more could you want. Plus they have a DJ so the music is always pumping.

Love the purple glasses you get too.
Head there with your girls and dance the night away:

-1 Alitude

As you can see from the above images the view is out of this world. It stands at a peak of 282 metres and has 360 degree view of Singapore! It is $30 to get in with a free drink, unless ladies it's a Wednesday as you get in free :). Trust me you will not be disappointed.

On arrival when paying to get in, if you like a cocktail order the Lychee Martini they are so good! There is a dance floor and music sometimes a band.

Aura Sky Lounge

This view will never get old! This is located at the National Gallery on Level 6. Alfresco seating overlooking this amazing view. Perfect for a night out with girls, friends or partners.

Singapore At Night Time

Singapore at night is 'Magical' this is one of my favourite views at night. The free light and water show is going on so the skyline is lit up even more.

I took this shot at a bar called 'OverEasy' which is located at One Fullerton. Make sure you get there for around 7.30pm and watch the sky come to light.

Cheap Transport

Public transport in Singapore is very cheap! You can take a bus for around $1! Underground starting at 2 dollars! Taxis are cheap to you never really need to do more than 10-15 minute taxi ride and it comes to around 6 dollars! This makes living in Singapore very easy.

Travel Distance To Other Destinations

I will try and keep this brief as I will do another blog around different travel destinations from Singapore. But it had to be in my top 10 loves!

Three places you can reach very easily from Singapore are

Koh Samui

Hong Kong

Langkawi

I have already posted a Blog on Langkawi take a look

I Heart Langkawi

All three destinations are 4 hours or under direct from Singapore!

Shopping

ION

If you want to see a mixture of designer and retail shops head here! Be prepared to get lost it is huge and has lots of levels. The shopping centre is stunningly clean and beautifully presented so even if shopping isn't your thing I would still recommend a walk around plus they have a Skybar which offer amazing views of Singapore!

Gorgeous Hotels

'Fullerton Bay Hotel'

The entrance to this hotel is truly stunning!

They have a rooftop bar overlooking the Marina called
'Lantern Bar'

Find out more here:

'Marina Bay Sands Hotel'

Yes that boat shaped building is 'Marina Bay Sands Hotel' it truly is spectacular!

They have an infinity pool on the top:

You can only gain access into the pool if you are a hotel guest.
The rooms look out onto the Marina or out to the Gardens By The Bay:

Both day and night you can make your way up to the top of the hotel and take in the breath taking views via 'Ce La Vi' or pay to stand on the sky deck.

Check out my blog on what else this beautiful hotel has to offer:

Airport

Me and my husband travel a lot, so we are at the airport quite a lot. 'Changi Airport' is by far the best airport! It never seems to be a hassle when you check in and security. My idea of stress free travel!

I hope the above has given you an insight into Singapore and helps you with your travels :)
